Canine Good Citizen

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program promotes responsible dog-human relationships and allows you to demonstrate that your dog should be welcome everywhere. Open to all dogs (mixed and purebred) who have a solid foundation in loose leash walking, coming when called, stay and good greeting behaviors with dogs and people. The class prepares you and your dog for taking the ten station AKC CGC test. This class is also an excellent refresher for those who want to do therapy dog work. Be the first on on your block to live with a Canine Good Citizen!

AKC Community Canine

The AKC Community Canine program is the advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen Program. Although similar to the Canine Good Citizen, the Community Canine tests canine skills in real situations. This class prepares you and your dog for taking the ten station AKC Community Canine test.

There is no age limit for the dogs, but before they take the AKC Community Canine test, they need to have a AKC Canine Good Citizen test on record with the AKC in order to receive a certificate. You can also take it "just for fun" as long as you have passed the CGC. This class will be held outside at Paws ‘N Effect. In the case of weather, the class would be postponed and the session extended.
